“Warrior Fever” was in full swing Saturday as Wayne State students, staff and alumni celebrated at the annual homecoming tailgate party in the parking lot of the Matthaei Athletic Center.

The annual event served as a “warm-up” for the Warrior’s battle against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. Members of WSU’s Student Council hosted the event, complete with food, music, and fun.

Although the tailgating started early, at 9 a.m. to be exact, the energy was definitely on high, as WSU supporters enjoyed tossing bean bags for prizes, standing in long lines to get their face painted “Warrior Style,” and chowed down on a hot dog/chips/pop combo for the low price of $1.00.

People had a ball with large inflatable obstacle courses, making their own “Warrior Bling,” and competed in an extreme game of egg toss, with the winning team receiving a free massage courtesy of WSU’s Fitness Center.

In the end, the event was a great way to hype up Warrior fans, old and new, for the big game.

“It gave me a boost of school spirit,” Engineering student Ariana Swartz said.

“I look forward to the tailgate next year because you never know what ideas they will come up with next.”
