Wayne State's interdisciplinary studies program will sponsor the 55th annual Michigan Association for adult and Continuing Education conference March 19.

The theme of the one-day conference will be "A New Hope: Lighting the Way for Adult Learners," which will highlight the future for those who work with adults scholars. There will also be discussions  on the challenges as well as opportunities that come with teaching and learning.

Anyone can attend this annual conference, but those in attendance consist mostly of individuals that represent vast and diverse educational sectors, such as school districts, intermediate school districts, community colleges, public and private colleges and universities, correctional facilities, literacy organization along with businesses and industries.

She will start the day at 9 a.m. with a "State of the State" presentation regarding the status of adult education in Michigan, along with how it can and will affect economic growth in the future. The speaker during the lunch-in will be Daniel Graham Mulhern, the First Gentleman of Michigan, and he will present his piece "Leading for Change Through Education."

The conference is essentially an invitation for those who have proposals that could better Michigan's adult education; furthering education aspects of adult schooling.

It's a time and place that MAACE hopes can bring individuals together to share information, ideas and experiences. MAACE also hopes that studies can be presented that provides encouragement for the adult learning community. In essence, the conference is open to anyone interested in uniting with other experts of many fields in order to contribute knowledge to Michigan's adult education.
