In support of their new album "Walk this Way," Epic recording artists The White Tie Affair will kick off their headlining tour Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m., at St. Andrews Hall.

Fresh out of the 2009 Vans Warped Tour line up, the Chicago-based pop-rock band is ready to jump start their tour with a twist.

Band member Ryan McLain, who plays the keyboard and guitar, said they wanted to do something different for their first headlining show.

"You know how when you go to a band its kind of silent," said McLain. "For us we're going to keep things moving."

Keeping things moving for them is the twist.  Instead of simply listening to music, the band is hosting the Traveling Talent Show, which McLain calls an "old-school talent show".  So in addition to listening to "Candle" and other songs from their album, fans will be able to become part of the show.

"We're trying to involve the audience as much as we can," he said.

But fans can only join in if they bring a talent along, hence the theme of a talent show. They'll also include contests and prizes for participants.

The band just finished opening up for recording artists Lady Gaga and Metro Station, and now its time for them to break free on their own.

McLain said not to expect any silent breaks and intermissions at their performance.  The band will keep the show rolling as audience members put on a show of their own.

"We're just looking to have fun," said McLain. " We want everyone to come to this and have a good time."

Detroit marks the start of their 40 city tour, ending in their hometown in the windy city Nov. 28.
