The Wayne State Athletic Department will host an event, known as Spring Festival, Saturday, April 18. The event will take an entire day, and feature equipment sales and several sports competitions.
According to Jeff Weiss, WSU sports information director, this is a big day for Wayne State athletics and a great opportunity to find good, used equipment at a good price.
“I remember the Spring Festival from last year,” said Debora Correa, a WSU athlete, “I was working that event, and a lot of people came to see and to buy our old stuff, and they got some good deals. I am hoping this year people will come because it is worth it.”
Although football season is not here yet, the WSU football team will have its annual spring game at 12 p.m.
“We have worked hard the whole winter, and everyone is excited to go on the field and play football,” said Bruno Shkreli, a Wayne State football player. “This will be a good day for us, because new recruits will come to see WSU football team in action. I hope that we will get good newcomers.”
The Wayne State baseball team will have an alumni event, to honor its past championship teams, as well as dedicate the new dugout. After the dedication, the team will play Tiffin at 1 p.m.
Keeping with the diamond theme, the softball team will feature a doubleheader on the home field against Lake Erie at 1 p.m. The softball team will also host “Senior Day,” where team members will honor their senior players, bestow them with flowers, and respectively host their parents.
