The WSU men’s and women’s swim teams host Calvin and Denison in a meet on Nov. 8 at the Mattheai Center. The men’s team recently won a four-team meet, while the women’s team placed second.

Men’s swimming

Cross country
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Big Rapids (Katke Gold Course) on Nov. 8 to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

The squads are ranked third in the Midwest Regional rankings and 17th in the national poll.
Rachelle Malette is seeking to match her 2007 performance, when she took first overall.

Abdullah Saleh has finished sixth in each of the last two seasons, but feels he is ready to take the next step (no pun intended).

“With all the miles that I have in my legs since I’ve been on the team, it should give me a great chance,” Saleh said.

More cross country
The 2008 All-GLIAC awards were doled out, with Malette being selected All-GLIAC First Team and Lauren Kessler garnering second team honors.

On the men’s side, Saleh and Dan Kapadia earned first team accolades while Sam Breen took home second team recognition.

Men’s basketball
The Warriors and coach David Greer were picked to finish fifth in the GLIAC South in the 2008-2009 GLIAC Preseason Media Poll. They will play an exhibition game on Nov. 9 in Iowa against the Hawkeyes.

Women’s basketball
The WSU women and coach Gloria Bradley  were picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC South in the GLIAC Preseason Medial Poll. Senior Jasmine McCall was selected to the preseason All-GLIAC team.
