Grand Valley State scores 21 in the second half
The Wayne State Warriors came out strong against Grand Valley State, but the Lakers scored 21 second-half points to go undefeated in the 2008 regular season. After WSU lead 10-3 early in the third quarter, the Lakers took over the game on both sides of the ball and handed the Warriors their third loss of the season, one that could potentially knock them out of the playoff. Wayne State wins four at home for first time since ‘84
The best way to get over a loss is with a win. Before the seventh-largest crowd in Adams Field history, Wayne State (5-2, 4-2 GLIAC) did just that by beating Northern Michigan 24-10, remaining undefeated at home in 2008.

After Wayne State vaulted out to an early 14-0 lead over Northern Michigan on Oct. 11, it looked as if the Warriors were going to annihilate the Wildcats. And when Jordan Kidd forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, it was almost a certainty that WSU would bury NMU with a touchdown.

Cross country set for GLIAC Championship meet
Women’s tennis Wayne State split a pair of matches on the west side of the state on Oct. 10 and 11, first shutting out Ferris State 9-0 before falling at the hands of Grand Valley State, 7-2. Sharon Gill improved to 7-2 in singles action against the Bulldogs and Jennifer Bradford and Kristina Goranskaya extended their winning streaks to five matches apiece.
