WSU student, keyboardist and vocalist Deleano Acevedo and guitarist Marcie Bolen formed Silverghost in March, 2008.

The band Silverghost was named by the bass player’s son. They draw influence from Gary Numan and groups such as Suicide, The Gun Club, Electric Light Orchestra, and Devo.
Starting with demos using Apple’s GarageBand software, they have already toured from coast to coast.  Silverghost was well-received with what Deleano Acevedo recalls as massive crowd cheers and post-intoxicated hugs.  Acevedo doubles as a vocalist and keyboardist while currently attending Wayne State.
The two-member group comprises Acevedo and Marcie Bolen. Acevedo is the keyboardist, Bolen is the guitarist, and both of them add vocals to their songs.
Silverghost was formed in March of 2008, and they held their first performance at the Magic Bag in Ferndale as a duo.
Along with Sean Lynch of 800beloved, out of Milford, Silverghost concluded their first EP in February consisting of four songs.
When asked to describe their sound, Deleano sees it as rock-and-roll guitars and pop synths that are designed to make audiences feel like they are traveling through space-time.
Acevedo and Bolen can easily point out each other’s strong points.
“Marcie has very creative and interesting perspectives when it comes to song writing. Her personality is magnetic and energetic at all times.” Deleano said.
There greatest performance to date came when they toured the west coast with the Murder City Devils, a garage rock group, earlier this year.  The two shows at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles sold out with about 1,200 people at each show.
Things did not always look so promising for Bolen, formerly of the Von Bondies, faced familial opposition to her music dreams.
“In the beginning my parents wanted me to finish school,” Marcie said. “I was driving a crappy car around and working a lot. They thought a band was not a top priority.”
Now with some success under their belts, the duo has hope of touring the rest of the country and Europe. Silerghost is also in the process of writing their first full length record.
“Deleano puts more of the pop in our music, gets us motivated to spend long hours in the basement,”  Bolen said.
Silverghost will be playing their next show as Devo on Oct. 23 at PJ’s Lager House in Detroit.
“I don’t want to over-think a song too much because that can possibly ruin the original idea. It’s best to go with your gut feeling,” Marcie said.
