David Archuleta's self-titled debut album begins phenomenally with a song that really gets those love-sick birds thinking about that special someone.
The song, “Touch My Hand,” has an uplifting beat. Of course, Archuleta has produced another song that only proves further what a love sick puppy he actually is. The song is totally his style, and before you know it, your head will be bopping to the beat.
I loved the next song, “Barriers.” I could totally relate to it – and if you find yourself stuck in a rut trying to get to that person you love, you'll be able to relate to it, too.
The album's fourth song can bring a tear to the eye of the listener who has to let go of a relationship that brings them more pain to hold on to. It's a song of a last hope that maybe it will work out after all – "but it's getting harder to hold on…"
Sniff. Someone pass the tissue please.
I have to say that Archuleta's song, “A Little Too Not Over You,” was almost a direct mix of Chris Daughtry's "Over You," JoJo's "Too Little Too Late," and Katharine McPhee's "Over It." The only difference is that, in the end, they got over their love problems, while Archuleta finds himself still a little caught up.
The song “You Can” would have American Idol judge Simon Cowell, hollering for mercy. It's all just a little bit too mushy, even for me. And I can be a very mushy person.
Let's skip another typical Archuleta song and go to “Desperate.” When I first heard it, I was a little desperate for the song to be over, especially with the repeating chorus of him screaming, "Cuz you're desperate!"
Definitely the worst song on the album.
He returned to his normal love-serenading … and so the rest of the album goes.
All in all, I think it was a success. However, I hope Archuleta can get out of this love crazy phase soon.
I don't know how much more of this anyone can take.
