American Idol winner David Cook has always had a strong talent for singing within the rock genre. And his new self-titled album should, without a doubt, be a success with the rock lovers.
It's perfect for listening to on an iPod when working out, or when just in the mood to express yourself through music.
Cook is truly talented in a way that allows his music to be music, and not just noise. He rocked off to an amazing start with the song "Declaration," which would definitely have anyone's head rocking and foot tapping.
The song "Heroes" expresses how some people who may first appear as one, only last temporarily, but there is always that one person that will still be standing by you through thick and thin.
"Life on the Moon" is about how life gets so hard, to the point where you feel like you're on another planet. Sometimes, you feel alone when times get hard, and you need someone to come and live your life with you. It's one of his more stand-out tracks.
Another thing to be admired about Cook is that even though he does sing rock, he never screams unintelligibly in his work. His words are always perfectly understandable; unlike some rock artists that make your ears just want to curl up and fall off. Definitely not the affect that Cook imparts.
However, his song, "Bar-ba-sol," is a bit too rowdy for him.
"Lie" was the saddest and truest song ever. Cook painted a story with his lyrics of the moments when you're afraid your relationship with someone you truly love and care about is about to end.
Cook asks them to just lie to him – tell him it's going to be alright, and that they'll make it through the night…
All in all, Cook's album is superb from beginning to end.
