Aini Abukar was worried her outfit made her look like a pilgrim, but standout shoes puts the outfit over the top.

Fall has finally arrived, and everyone knows what that means: putting away the gladiator sandals, and sundresses for trench coats, boots and bad-ass jackets. Cuffs, opaque tights and chain purses are just a few “must haves” this fall. Last fall, thigh-high suede boots were on the feet of just about every 20-something-year-old woman.

“My favorite fall trend probably would be thigh-high boots, but I would prefer a boot with a heel,” WSU student Sarah Nugent, 23, said.

Thigh-high boots are not particularly comfortable, nor are they the best for snow or freezing temperatures. But they are perfect for the current bottomless trend of skirts that seems to be holding thanks to style icons like Lady Gaga and Taylor Momsen.

Prices for these boots run the gamut from ultra cheap, to ridiculously expensive, so shop wisely.

Military blazers like ones the late Michael Jackson would wear on stage are a hit this fall and can be matched with stockings, thigh-highs, leggings or boots for a little edge. Plain blazers, which can be found at any resale shop, are also back this fall, and make any outfit look classy with a certain “je ne sais quoi” look year round.

In anticipation for rain or moist weather, trench coats have been seen in chain stores and magazine this season.

“I like trench coats a lot,” Allie Smith, 20, said. “If you find the right one that fits your body shape perfectly, it looks classy and cute.”

Needless to say, this coat is a staple that needs to be in every woman’s closet.

Bangles, cuffs and pearls are also a hot look for this season. Chain purses can be seen on the arm of various trendy celebs such as the Gossip Girls’ Leighton Meester, and Blake Lively.

Chanel’s collection of the style is obviously a classic, and most wanted, but for a college student dropping $1500 or more on a purse, it is not an option. Vintage shops like Paris in Royal Oak are places to look around for this particular style.

If that fails, try affordable Target, Forever or check out Coach’s “Tribeca” collection to find this bag.

Opaque tights or those with Swiss dots are winners. They warm up your legs and give a little pizzazz to any outfit. The belt-over-the-waist look that Kim Kardashian rocks religiously is back. Unlike before, big belts are the look to match with classics.

This trend works for women with any style and flatters any body type from curvy to skinny.
The best thing about trends this fall are that almost any body type can wear these styles, and almost all of these accessories are staples that you can wear repeatedly. Above anything is the affordability of these fabulous pieces.
